F.A.Q.
01
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that originated in China over 3000 years ago. It involves the insertion of hair-thin, sterile, stainless steel needles into strategic points on the body to restore homeostasis.
03
Does it hurt?
While the experience may be different from person to person, acupuncture usually doesn’t cause discomfort. You may feel a bit of a pinch when the needles are tapped in, but this should ease right away. The sensation may feel dull, heavy, or even tingly but no not painful.
05
How do I prepare for a treatment?
Dress comfortably, make sure you’ve eaten something in the last few hours and avoid drugs and alcohol before your session to get the most out of your treatment.
02
How does acupuncture work?
Needles create micro-traumas in the tissue, influencing the nervous system to release neurotransmitters and hormones to reduce pain, activate the parasympathetic nervous system, decrease inflammation, and promote healing.
04
What does acupuncture treat?
Too many things to list, but some common issues we see and treat regularly are pain, stress, anxiety, women’s health issues (PMS, cycle regulation, hormone imbalance, fertility), immune support, fatigue, insomnia, digestive problems, and many more.
06
What should I wear to my treatment?
Wear loose clothing, so we can reach acupuncture points on your knees, elbows, and abdomen, as needed.
07
I’m pregnant. Can I get acupuncture or take herbs?
Yes, you can safely receive acupuncture and take herbs prescribed to you by a licensed practitioner while pregnant. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are wonderful ways to support pregnancy and ease common symptoms like morning sickness, aches and pains, sleep disturbance, and stress.
08
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance, but can provide a Superbill that can be submitted to your insurance provider.
